Shimizu S-Pulse ( Shimizu Esuparusu) is a Japanese football club located in Shimizu, Shizuoka. In terms of honours, S-Pulse is one of Japan's successful teams. They have won all 3 domestic trophies at least once and have also won the Asian Cup Winners Cup. However, the J. League Division 1 title has eluded them; the closest they came was in the 1999 season when they became champions of the second stage only to end up losing out on the title to local rivals, Júbilo Iwata. S-Pulse finished 4th in the league in the 2006 season; 12 points adrift of the champions, Urawa Reds. They exited the J. League Cup early after failing to qualify from their group and were knocked out of the Emperor's Cup in the quarter finals by Kashima Antlers.
