Ankaragücü (Turkey) 2008 Home kit
MKE Ankaragücü (full name in Turkish: Makina Kimya Endüstrisi Ankaragücü) is a Turkish sports club based in the Turkish capital Ankara. Ankaragücü's football team is currently playing in the Turkish Premier Super League.Ankaragücü is an Ankara club, but it was founded in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul in 1904 under the historical name of "Altin Örs Idman Yurdu". This team played in Friday League in Istanbul. The club was later moved to the capital city, Ankara. There are some theories about this move. One of them is that during Turkish War of Independence the team moved from Istanbul to Ankara and another one is that in 1910 the players of the team in Zeytinburnu were divided and followed two separate leaders (Şükrü Abbas and Agah Orhan). The Şükrü Abbas group left the club and formed "Turan Sanakaran gücü". This date is accepted as the establishment day of Ankaragücü. During World War I both teams sent players for war efforts. After the war both teams united and moved the team to the capital city and formed "AS-FA Gücü". Since 1948, the"Ankaragücü" name has become the official name.
